A 90-consultant UK tech recruitment agency. Perm and contract, split roughly 60/40. Bullhorn was the source of truth - in theory. In practice, consultants spent 4–6 hours a day reading CVs and writing one-off outreach. Two prior 'AI recruitment' trials had ended in cancellation: one because the matching was no better than keyword search, one because the outreach sounded like a chatbot and burned client relationships.
A fixed-scope, fixed-fee 6-week RecAssist pilot at £18k to ship one workflow: CV matching and consultant-voiced outreach on the tech desk. The deal - if the desk lead said no, no rollout. If yes, we'd quote a fixed scope for the rest of the agency.
RecAssist trained on the agency's past two years of Bullhorn placements - learning what 'good' looked like on their patch, not the public web. Shortlists generated in 12 minutes from a vacancy brief, ranked with reasoning. AI outreach drafts in each consultant's voice, with branching cadences and reply detection. Activity flowed back into Bullhorn live. Privileged candidate data stayed in the agency's Azure tenant with zero retention against external models.
The tech desk ran for five weeks before the agency signed a £58k rollout across financial services, healthcare and accounting desks. Six months in: placement rate per consultant up 18%, time-to-shortlist down from 6 hours to 12 minutes, outreach reply rate 4x higher. Consultants ran 22 open vacancies each (was 12). NFI per consultant added £18k a year. No one was made redundant - two senior consultants ran new desks the agency couldn't previously open.
